Thirty years ago, documentarian Shoichi Aoki began photographing stylish fashion on the streets, capturing organic trends rather than those created intentionally by magazines and famous brands. Shortly after, in 1986, he launched the world's first street snap magazine, "STREET." In 1997, he founded the Harajuku street snap magazine "FRUiTS," which, like "STREET," was a fashion documentation magazine without ads or image retouching. This magazine helped bring Harajuku fashion to global prominence. In 2004, he launched "TUNE," a street snap magazine focused on men's fashion in Harajuku. Today, these magazines have readers all over the world. One of them is Martin Margiela, the former designer for Hermès, who even asked Aoki to co-edit a special book.
